“And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” - Mark 1:9-11
When a child is born, it's been a practice for us Catholics to baptize the infant as early as possible to cleanse the so-called original sin. In our case, we decided to do it after a year. The original plan was to do it on his Birthday but due to unavoidable circumstances, that special day happened just yesterday, September 25, 2011 at the Historical Church of Barasoain.
Our baby's sponsors were our closest friends, but not all of them were able to attend because of different reasons. The seminar started at 11:30am followed by the Christening proper. Ieuan was asleep during the ceremony and was awaken when the priest poured the holy water on his head. He looked at the priest with a confused expression, maybe wondering what was going on.
We took some souvenir photos after the Christening then went straight to Red Ribbon Malolos, just on the other side of the street, for the reception.
It's been a very simple and intimate celebration yet fun and enjoyable. We would like to extend our sincerest THANKS to those who became part of this very special event, for joining us in welcoming our beloved son, Viktor ieuan A. Silva to the Christian world.
