A Long Journey Home...
It was 5:00 in the morning, rain was falling heavily and the strong wind had already destroyed the nipa hut's window. We can hear the roaring and splashing of the waves from the nearby ocean. It was cold, and I was nervous.
Pagudpud is indeed a very nice and beautiful place, but believe us, you wouldn't want to be there during a storm. We didn't want to be stranded there on that kind of weather so we decided to leave as soon as possible. We packed our things, paid for the accommodation then started our journey back home.
Our original plan was to do the North Loop because we wanted to see the PATAPAT VIADUCT but because of the bad weather, we decided to just go back and take the Laoag - Vigan - La Union - Pangasinan - Tarlac - Pampanga - Bulacan route. We felt bad about the change of plan but maybe God has reasons, there's always a next time anyway.

We only stopped to refill gas and take some drinks to energize. We bought some shallots, garlic, "bagoong isda", fish sauce and vinegar to take home. We asked the vendor to put in inside a box which we strapped on our motorcycle's backseat.
We reached this place at around 11:30 am perfect time and place to have lunch.
There were vendors selling grapes for 15 pesos per 2 packs and nuts for only 10 pesos. We bought some and ate as we rest and enjoyed the view.
For the last time, Ilocos made us happy when we found this carinderia across the road. They had a variety of Ilokano dishes to choose from. We ordered "dinakdakan" and my husband's favorite! Fried fish with fresh sea weeds and tomato, yummy!
Before...
...After.
We never had a lunch so good and it was very satisfying. Perfect to charge us up for the long journey ahead.
We can't help ourselves from taking a picture of this monkey just right outside the eatery. We were laughing at the sight of it because it reminded us of someone. After a quick inspection of our motorcycle, we started to take the remaining 12 hours of travel to our hometown.
We had a real hard time carrying the things that we bought. We stopped to transfer it to our bags so that both of us could sit comfortably.
I was just so stupid to put the bottled things inside my backpack. We were travelling the roads of La Union when I suddenly smelled something familiar. It took time before it synced into me. I asked Jun to stop then, to my horror, something brown and liquid was dripping from my back pack, It was the "bagoong isda", the bottle broke because it kept on bumping with the backseat handle throughout our ride. Jun was laughing so hard because my pants and shoes were also soakin' wet with the smelly substance. Tissue paper didn't help that much and to complete the experience, all our clothes inside the backpack were also victimized. The result, throughout our journey home , we didn't have any choice but to eat at "carinderias" or at an any open food establishment to avoid being embarrased.
Our journey back home was a real test of endurance, both for our motorcycle and for us. I can hardly move my legs whenever we did stopovers to take a short break, I can feel my muscles aching with tiredness. I just can't imagine how tired my husband was for he had driven a total of 17 hours from Pagudpud to Bulacan. We arrived home at around 12:00 midnight and it was so nice to have a good sleep after the longest ride we had so far.
